Magnum Opus/ Catastrophy?!

What you are about to read has sent me crashing down to the earth in many senses. Almost every section of this post was scratched, modified or updated at some point of time. Unfortunately, I realized only after it had been published that in the process it had rendered it unintelligible to anybody other than my self. Hence, I have changed it again in an effort to reach out to the reader. Check it out…

Through my eyes…

Why does everything seem so strange? Has the whole world changed? Or is it just that my perceptions of it have? The lines that follow will take you through my attempts to answer these questions.

I take the liberty of quoting a few words that have greatly influenced my thoughts.

“Seldom do we realize that the oceans secrets are more beautiful than the ocean itself... We as mere mortals restrict ourselves to the superficial while being blissfully ignorant of the fact that everything in life has more meaning than we ever dreamt possible. Hence, I bid farewell in the calm amidst the storm.”
Ironically they are not as simple as the message they represent, hence, will require explanation.

We are reflections of what we think we are. We do what we do because we think that that is “what we were born to do” or “what we have to do” or “what we are supposed to do”… all different interpretations of the same notion. Each person has a different view of what his “purpose” is and tries to the best of his abilities to fulfill this “purpose”.

But “purpose” does not give us happiness. Happiness can only be derived through the acquirement of what we need (or rather what we want). But all of our wants can never be fulfilled. Hence it will never result in complete satisfaction or happiness.

One should not what anything to get everything. Only elimination of desire will give rise to satisfaction. Conditioning ourselves this way will lead us to our real purpose.

Like a lot of other things, this one is also easier said than done. This article itself is proof of my failure to fully understand or implement what I have advocated, I would not have indulged in it otherwise.

And that is why people go to the himalayas bala!
